What I’ve built

My public portfolio is short, deliberately. What it does have is one large project, built and maintained by me for over ten years: the best proof of what I can handle.

AscultăLive.ro, an online radio platform

My own project. Online since 2012, rebuilt from scratch in 2025.

The problem

Romanian radio online is scattered: hundreds of stations, each with its own site, some with players that freeze, others buried in adverts. If all you want is some old music on the drive to work, you lose five minutes finding a stream that actually plays.

How I solved it

  • An organised catalogue. Over 280 stations, sorted by genre (dance, oldies, folk, rock, manele, classical and about fifteen more) and by coverage: 16 national FM networks, 30 regional stations, 230 online-only and 7 from the Republic of Moldova.
  • A player that doesn’t stop you browsing. It keeps playing while you move around the site, showing the track currently on air, with stream selection, a sleep timer and a car mode with large buttons.
  • Memory without an account. Favourites, listening history and track history, all kept on your own device. I don’t ask you for an account and I don’t collect personal data.
  • A dedicated page for every station, plus a live chart of what is being listened to right now.
  • It installs like an app on your phone, straight from the browser. If you would rather use the store, it is on Google Play as well.
  • Clear entry standards for the catalogue: own domain, 24/7 broadcast, secure stream, a real station identity. That’s how the catalogue stays clean.

What it looks like

Three screens from the Android app, the same platform in your pocket.

The AscultăLive app home screen: favourites, recently played stations and the coverage groups.
The home screen. Favourites at the top, recent listening below, and the player carries on at the bottom while you move around the app.
The “Petrecere” party playlist in the app, with the player drawn as an audio cassette.

Search in the app: a field for a station name or a music genre, filters for genre, coverage and language, and the number of stations found.
Search. Type a station name or a genre, or filter by coverage and language. Tap the heart and the station stays in your favourites, still with no account.

Where it got to

The platform has been running for over ten years and I still keep it current. The catalogue has grown past 280 verified stations, and the 2025 rebuild brought everything the old structure couldn’t do: the persistent player, car mode, the live chart and phone installation.

I keep no personal-data statistics about listeners. I don’t need them to know it works.

Why this matters for your business

A brochure website is far simpler than this. But the same things make the difference for you: it loads fast, it works on any phone, it’s organised around how people actually search, and it doesn’t fall over as it grows. What I learned building AscultăLive goes into every site I make.

Radio Intens

An online radio station for Romanians in the UK, broadcasting since 2009. The site is simple, on purpose: a player that starts straight away, runs 24/7 and asks nothing of the listener. A small project, but one that has run without interruption for years. That’s all it needs to do.
