In short: the only personal data we receive is what you write to us in the contact form. This website uses no cookies and does not track you.

Who is responsible for your data

Burghila Digital, a web development business based in Coventry, United Kingdom, is the data controller for the purposes of the UK GDPR. Write to us at hello@burghila.co.uk with any question about this page.

What data we receive, and from whom

Only what you fill in on the contact form or send us directly by email:

• your name and email address (required, so that we can reply to you);
• your business name, your current website address and your estimated budget, if you choose to fill them in;
• the type of project you are interested in and the message you write;
• your phone number, only if you tick that you would rather be called.

If you book a 30-minute call on the booking page, the only extra things we need are the day and time you pick. Name and email stay required; the phone number and what you want to discuss are optional.

We do not buy contact lists and we do not collect data about you from other sources.

Why we use it, and on what legal basis

• To answer your enquiry and, if we go on to work together, to prepare the quote and the contract. Legal basis: steps taken prior to entering a contract, and performance of that contract (Art. 6(1)(b) UK GDPR).
• To protect the form against spam and abuse. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in keeping the website working (Art. 6(1)(f)).
• To keep our accounting records, if you become a client. Legal basis: legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)).

We do not send newsletters and we do not use your data for advertising.

Where your data goes

The contact form message is emailed to us and lands in our business inbox. We do not store it on the website — the site has no database.

Bookings are the one exception, for a practical reason: so that nobody else can take the time you chose, it has to be held somewhere. The booking details (name, email, phone if you leave one, what you want to discuss, the day and the time) are saved in a file on our server, outside the public area of the site. You get an email with a link that lets you cancel yourself at any point — the moment you cancel, the file is deleted.

To send that email we use a specialist service (ZeptoMail, operated by Zoho Corporation, with processing in the European Union), and we read the correspondence in Zoho Mail. These are our data processors and they have no right to use your data for any other purpose.

If sending the email fails for technical reasons, your message is saved temporarily in a file on our server, outside the public area of the website, so that it is not lost. We then send it manually and delete it immediately afterwards.

The server the website runs on is hosted in the United Kingdom or the European Union. Like any web server, the hosting provider keeps technical access logs (including IP addresses) for security and diagnostics, for a short period. We do not use those for analytics.

How long we keep it

• If we do not end up working together, we delete the correspondence after 12 months at the most.
• If you become a client, we keep the data for the duration of the work and then for as long as UK accounting law requires.
• The temporary file mentioned above: deleted as soon as the message has been delivered.
• Booking details: deleted straight away if you cancel; otherwise automatically 60 days after the date of the call.

Cookies: we do not use them

This website sets no cookies at all and loads no external tracking services — no Google Analytics, no Facebook pixel, no fonts or scripts from other domains. That is why you will not see one of those cookie consent banners here.

Statistics, without personal data

So that we know which pages are being read, we keep a simple counter on our own server. For each page view we record four things: the date (without the time), the language of the page, which page it was, and — if you arrived from another website — only the name of that website. That is all.

We do not store your IP address, we do not store which browser you use, and we cannot link one visit to another or to a person.

Protecting the form

So that we are not flooded with automated messages, we limit how many submissions can come from the same connection within an hour. To do that we turn the IP address into an irreversible code, using a secret value that changes daily — the IP address itself is stored nowhere and cannot be reconstructed from the code. Those files are deleted automatically after 48 hours.

Your rights

Under the UK GDPR you have the right to request: access to the data we hold about you, its correction, its deletion, restriction of its use, its transfer to someone else, as well as the right to object to processing based on legitimate interests.

Write to us at hello@burghila.co.uk and we will deal with it within one month at the most. There is no charge.

If you are not happy with how we handled your request, you can complain to the UK data protection authority, the Information Commissioner's Office: ico.org.uk.

If we change anything on this page, we update the date at the top. The version published here is the one in force.
