How I work

Websites usually go wrong because of misunderstandings. So I write things down first: what I’m building, what it costs, by when, and who brings what.

  1. We talk

A conversation with no strings attached, over the phone or face to face if you’re nearby. I ask what your business does, who your customers are, how they find you now, and what you want from the site: calls, bookings, credibility, orders. That’s also when you tell me what you already have: an old website, a Facebook page, a Google profile, a logo, photos.

Those answers are what I later write the pages from. That’s why I ask more questions than you might expect.

If you’d rather skip the back and forth, book 30 minutes straight away: you pick the day and time, and I call you then.

  2. You get the scope in writing

I send you a short, clear document: the list of pages, what the site does, what’s included, what isn’t, and what you need to provide (photos, contact details, correct information). You read it, ask for changes, approve it. Nothing starts before that.

  3. Fixed price, paid in two steps

For the approved scope the price is fixed. It doesn’t change because the work took me longer than I thought. As standard: half at the start, half before launch. On larger projects we split it into stages. The site goes live once payment is complete.

If you want something beyond what was approved, I tell you what it costs and how much time it adds, and I only build it if you agree in writing.

  4. I build, you approve stage by stage

I work to four approval points: scope and price, then structure and design, then content, then the pre-launch check. At each stage you get rounds of revisions, written into the scope from the start. On smaller projects, usually two per stage.

One thing worth saying plainly: if I built something differently from what the scope said, putting it right doesn’t count as one of your revisions. That one is on me.

  5. I put it live, and I stay

I take the site live in a controlled way, with proper redirects if you already had one, and I submit it to Google Search Console. I show you how it works and what you need to do from there. Not much, usually. The domain stays yours, always.

If you want, I look after it from then on: hosting, backups, updates, and me at the other end of the message when you need something.

About timelines

The timeline goes in the scope. And one thing I say openly: if your materials or approvals are late, the deadline moves out by the same amount. I tell you the moment it happens, so there’s no surprise at the end.

AI-assisted, human-led

I use AI in production: for writing, for code, for checks. That’s how I work faster than I otherwise could, and it’s why I can keep the price fair for a small business.

What I don’t do: hand you an automatically generated site that nobody has read. Every page is read by me, every piece of text goes past you before it’s published, and if something goes wrong, I answer for it.
